愛德荷州（Idaho）

愛德荷州位於美國西北部，山巒壯闊綿延，和幾萬英畝的自然美景盡收眼底：崇山到沙漠，峻嶺到平原，藍綠色的湖泊和瀑布到峽谷，倘若你對地質地理情有獨鍾，愛德荷州絕對是你不能錯過的旅遊勝地。位於愛德荷州的死亡谷有7900英尺深，是北美最深的峽谷，深度甚至勝過大峽谷；而位於斯奈克河上的紹松瀑布其高度比舉世聞名的尼加拉瓜大瀑布還高！

然而這個蘊含著珍貴自然資源的愛德荷州最初在美國史上卻是屈於化外之地，一直到十九世紀中葉的掏金熱，大批淘金客來到西部開發。到加利福尼亞州必須先經過本州，這才開始有除了原住民外的新住民遷入。1860年淘金客在愛德荷北部挖掘金礦，愛德荷州漸漸地熱鬧了起來，並趕在世紀末前正式加入聯邦，成為美國的第四十三州。

愛德荷州盛產馬鈴薯，其規模之大為世界所知名，全美超過三分之二的馬鈴薯皆由本州所出產，另外這裡也是全國種植白松木最盛的地方。

愛德荷州又名寶石之州，州如其名，本州的礦業發展極盛，是全國第一個生產銀礦的州，而除了金礦及銀礦外，艾德荷也有鉛、鋅、銅等各式礦顫的開採與出產。

Hell Canyon, the deepest canyon in North America, is 7900 feet deep, even deeper than the Grand Canyon. The Shoshone Falls, which are on the Snake River, are higher than Niagara Falls.

The Idaho potato is famous worldwide. Two thirds of the potatoes in the country are grown in Idaho. Moreover, Idaho has the greatest stand of white pine trees in America.

Idaho, also known as the “Gem State”, is the leading producer of silver. In addition to silver mining, gold, lead, zinc, and copper are all produced in Idaho.
