背景
倫敦大學亞非學院(University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies，簡稱 SOAS )，體制是一所大學，也是倫敦大學University of London的其中一個學院。 SOAS, UOL學院創立於1916年是英國亞洲和非洲研究的中心, 研究課題與世界上三分之二的人有關,其學術專業人員數更是世界之冠。 SOAS 在世界上享有盛譽，其學生來自世界上九十多個國家，現有本科生1,840名，研究生1,120名，海外學生占21%，提供400多門課程。

倫敦大學亞非學院（SOAS）開設的課程有經濟、地理、歷史或社會科學，並且，SOAS針對國際留學生所開設的大學預科課程和碩士預科課程，其畢業證書由倫敦大學亞非學院（SOAS）頒發，被英國大部份的大學認可，由其是倫敦大學所有學院所接受，意謂著學生不僅可以申請包括倫敦大學下屬的倫敦大學倫敦政經學院、倫敦大學國王學院等，還可以申請愛丁堡大學、諾丁漢大學、格拉斯哥大學和曼徹斯特大學等知的學校。

倫敦大學亞非學院（SOAS）的國際性是這個學校顯著的特點，學院早期培養了相當數量的外交官，如今依然是歐洲研究東方以及非洲問題的中心之一，並且是世界上這一學科研究領域中擁有學者最多的一個學院。

和牛津、劍橋一樣，倫敦大學的各個學院包括亞非學院也實行導師制的教學方式。3000多名在校生中有四分之一是來自世界各地的留學生，各種族裔的都有，研究生占全校學生數的40％。

  
環境
倫敦大學亞非學院（University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies）位於倫敦市中心，大英博物館及圖書館就在附近，所有的院系和學術活動都位於大學在倫敦市中心的校園內。中心建築是一幢現代的建築，帶有畫廊和教學住宿。

而最近的地鐵站（Russell Spuare）步行至此僅需兩分鐘路程，另外可由此地搭地鐵直往Heathrow希斯洛機場，或前去St Pancras聖潘可拉斯火車站搭通過英法海底隧道的歐州之星火車前往巴黎及布魯塞爾。

倫敦（London）是英國的首都、第一大城及第一大港，也是歐洲最大的都會區之一兼世界三大金融中心之一。自18世紀以來，倫敦一直是世界上最重要的政治、經濟、文化、藝術和娛樂中心之一。倫敦市區因常常充滿著潮濕的霧氣，因此有個叫「霧都」的別名。

舊有的「City of London」，仍保有其狹小的中世紀界線。然而現今的「倫敦」一詞，早已被廣泛地應用至包含其周邊地帶在內的整個大都市區。

做為兩千年來一個重要的定居點，倫敦現已發展成為世界重要的商業、經濟及文化中心，且其在政治、教育、娛樂、媒體、時尚及藝術方面的影響力，使它如同巴黎、紐約與東京一般，成為主要的全球都市之一。

倫敦是歐盟中人口最多的城市，共擁有770萬人口，包含位於大都會區的12-14萬人。倫敦的人口組成十分國際化，吸引了多樣文化及宗教領域的居民，並使用超過300種不同的語言。

倫敦同時也是國際的運輸中心，共擁有5個國際機場及一個大型港口。它是世界上最大的航空樞紐之一，其主要機場希斯洛比起世界上其他機場，運輸了數量更多的國際旅客。除此之外，倫敦還擁有歐洲最長的地鐵系統。

  
設備
倫敦大學亞非學院（University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies）圖書館屬國家亞非資料圖書館，其中典藏相關資料為世界之最，另外設有語言實驗室以及電腦設備，並開設英語課程。

住宿資訊學校宿舍可容納約800名學生，另有八棟倫敦大學宿舍鄰近本學院，大學住宿辦公室會幫助安排學生住宿，學生並均有個別導師，負責學生福利或學業進展。本校另有學生福利專員、專業顧問，以及完善的保健服務，校內亦有完備的社交娛樂和運動設施。
