Taught Postgraduate Scholarships 2009/10

ESRC Scholarships

MRes Psychology
The ESRC offers studentships by a quota system through a 1+3 award which funds a one year research training master''s course that is linked to a three year doctorate programme. Master''s courses are not funded separately. Home and EU students may apply. To apply, please contact the research administrator at [email protected].

MRes Developmental Psychology
This programme is accredited by the ESRC and therefore home and EU students are eligible for a 1+3 award which funds a one year research training master''s course that is linked to a three year doctorate programme. Please approach Course Director Dr Anna Barnett [email protected] directly and well in advance of the application deadline of 1 May 2009.


John Henry Brookes Scholarships

The John Henry Brookes Scholarship Scheme awards scholarships to students who either have an excellent academic record or who demonstrate significant potential.

MSc in Child Development and Learning
MRes in Developmental Psychology
MSc in Cognitive Neuropsychology
MRes in Psychology
One scholarship of ?,000 will be awarded towards the full-time tuition fees of a UK, EU or international student.

Master of Laws Programmes
(All 7 LLM programmes eligible)One scholarship of ?,000 will be awarded towards the full-time tuition fees of a UK, EU or international student. One scholarship of ?,000 will be awarded towards the full-time tuition fees to a student from China or South East Asia.

MA in International Studies Programmes
(All 4 Master旧 programmes eligible)One scholarship of ?,000 will be awarded towards the full-time tuition fees of a UK, EU or international student.

MSc in Primate Conservation
One scholarship of ?,000 will be awarded towards the full-time tuition fees of an international student.


Vice Chancellor Scholarship

MSc in Primate Conservation
One scholarship of ?780 will be offered to a UK or EU student who either has an excellent academic record or who demonstrates significant potential. The award will be paid towards the full-time UK or EU tuition fee. The Scholarship is for a period of one year only and does not include a maintenance grant.


Primate Conservation Habitat Country Scholarship Scheme

Because of the urgent need for the study of conservation in Habitat Countries, up to four scholarships for excellent students from Habitat Countries will be available in 2009/10. Scholarships cover the full cost of the international tuition fees, but do not include a maintenance grant. The scholarships are awarded on the condition that scholarship recipients will conduct research for their dissertation project in their country of origin.

These scholarships are funded by the Rufford Maurice Laing Foundation and the School of Social Sciences and Law. Eligible students from Habitat Countries who hold an offer of a place on the course will be automatically considered for these awards. However, no scholarships will be fully confirmed until the School of Social Sciences and Law receives acceptable written proof (bank statements, official sponsorship letters, etc) that they can cover their living expenses for the full academic year (which are estimated to amount to approximately ?000).

Alumni Discount

The School of Social Sciences and Law rewards the loyalty shown by Oxford Brookes graduates who register for one of its higher degrees by offering an alumni discount of 10% on the tuition fee. Graduate Diploma in Psychology applicants who have successfully completed the Qualifying Certificate in Psychology will also be eligible for this discount.
