Essex ranked 9th in the UK for the quality of its research in The Times, The Guardian and The Independent newspapers

As you''ve recently expressed an interest in the University of Essex, we thought we''d share our good news with you. The results of the UK-wide Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), published recently (18 December), reveal that almost a quarter of the University''s research is rated as world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
 
Essex has reconfirmed its position as the UK''s leading university in the social sciences with Politics and Sociology ranked in first position, Economics in third position and Linguistics in fourth position nationally.
Essex Business School was ranked second best in the UK in the Accounting and Finance subject area. History was also ranked second crowning a strong performance in the Humanities with Art History ninth and Philosophy joint tenth.
